Heron Cabinet
I call this my heron cabinet. It is the first time I tried to incorporate parquetry into my marquetry, I find it gives the feathers a neat abstract look. I think it pairs well with the spalted beech background on the doors, the spalting reminds me of heat lines and reeds coming out of a marsh on a hot day. The rest of the cabinet is cherry. Both sides taper towards the top across their width. This cabinet can easily stand on its own, but I built a shelf unit to sit on top and add a bit of extra display. I built this piece in 2024.
